The Ayawaso East desks donation saw Mr Baba Jamal, the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East in Greater Accra, provide about 1,000 desks to the Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly for distribution to schools in the constituency.

Mr Jamal said the contribution was aimed at improving teaching and learning and formed part of his commitment to strengthening educational infrastructure and supporting young people in the area.

The municipal assembly will distribute the desks to schools across the Ayawaso East municipality, the MP said. No further details on the timetable for distribution or the specific beneficiary schools were provided.

School furniture shortages are a common challenge for some basic schools, and donations of desks and chairs are one way local authorities and elected officials seek to address classroom overcrowding and comfort. Municipal officials did not immediately provide additional information on how the new desks will be allocated.

The donation was reported locally and comes as MPs and private donors across the country periodically supply materials intended to support learning environments.
