Police Arrest Two Brothers Over Killing of Man, Injury to Wife at Tuba
The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two brothers in connection with the shooting death of a 54-year-old man and the injury of his wife at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, near Weija.
The suspects, identified as Adams Adder Almeida and his brother, Bala Bilyon, were arrested following the incident on Thursday, August 6, 2026. The arrests were carried out with assistance from the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET).
According to a statement issued by the Ghana Police Service on Sunday, August 9, and signed by the Accra Regional Head of Public Affairs, Chief Superintendent Juliana Obeng, the Weija Police received information that a man and his wife had been shot at the estate.
A police team dispatched to the scene found the couple with gunshot wounds outside their four-bedroom apartment.
Man Dies After Shooting
The victims were rushed to Finney Hospital in Weija for medical attention. The man, identified as Rahman Mohamed, was pronounced dead on arrival.
His wife, 53-year-old Christiana Fosu, was referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for further treatment. Police said she remains on admission and is responding to treatment.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary pending an autopsy.
Suspect Allegedly Admits to Shooting
During interrogation, police said Adams Adder Almeida allegedly admitted to shooting the couple.
According to the police statement, the suspect claimed that he was motivated by his perception that Rahman Mohamed had repeatedly described him as lazy and useless, which he said had affected him mentally.
The suspect subsequently led investigators to his brother’s room at Beach Drive Estate, where police recovered a pistol believed to have been used in the shooting.
Police said the weapon was allegedly concealed beneath the wall drop of Bala Bilyon, who works with the deceased.
Investigations also established that the two brothers reside together in the same room at Tuba.
Police Search for Third Person
Adams Adder Almeida reportedly told investigators that the pistol had allegedly been given to him by a friend identified as Gideon.
He later led investigators to Gideon’s residence at Tuba, but the individual was not found at home. Police said efforts are ongoing to locate him to assist with investigations.
Bala Bilyon has also been arrested and is being interrogated as police continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Authorities are expected to provide further updates as the investigation progresses.
