13 Dead, Five Critically Injured in Sege Highway Accident
A devastating road accident on the Sege Highway has claimed 13 lives. The crash, involving a Ford Transit and a Toyota Hiace, happened on Wednesday, September 2, along the stretch heading toward Ada.
According to reports, the two vehicles were travelling from the Sege Highway toward Ada when the accident occurred. In total, 18 people were on board the two vehicles combined.
Of those, 13 lost their lives. The remaining five sustained critical injuries and were rushed to Sege Polyclinic, where they’re currently receiving medical treatment.
Officers from the Sege Fire Station responded to the scene and worked to attend to the victims. Isaac Kojo Opoku, Assistant Divisional Officer at the Public Relations Department of the Ghana National Fire Service Headquarters, confirmed the details of the incident and the number of casualties involved.
In his statement, Opoku extended condolences to the families who have lost loved ones, and wished the injured victims a full and swift recovery.
Investigations into the accident are still ongoing. Further details on what caused the crash, along with the identities of those who died, are expected to be released as the process continues.
