Two Dead, Six Injured in Fatal Crash on Accra-Kumasi Highway

A crash at Dr. Marbel Junction on the Accra-Kumasi Highway has left two people dead and six others injured. The accident happened on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

Three vehicles were involved: a DAF truck with registration number BF 1722E6, a VW Sprinter bus registered ER 195-24, and a tricycle bearing registration M-25-AS-8071.

According to preliminary findings from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the chain of events started with a brake failure. The DAF truck lost control after its brakes gave out, crashing into the Sprinter bus. That collision then pushed the bus into a parked tricycle nearby.

The tricycle didn’t survive the impact it was completely destroyed. Both the truck and the bus sustained partial damage.

Firefighters from the Suhum Municipal Fire Station moved quickly once they arrived, working to free one victim who had been trapped underneath the DAF truck.

All those injured in the crash have since been taken to Suhum Government Hospital for treatment.

Following the incident, the GNFS renewed its call for drivers to take vehicle maintenance seriously, urging motorists to service their vehicles regularly and exercise greater caution on the roads to help prevent crashes like this one.
