Bantama NPP Elections: Kingsley Atta Defeats Incumbent Fiifi Mensah by 4 Votes

Kingsley Atta has been elected Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Bantama Constituency after defeating incumbent Chairman Fiifi Mensah by four votes in the party’s 2026 constituency executive elections.

The election was held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the Cultural Centre Dwarerem in Kumasi, where Mr Atta secured 570 votes against Mr Mensah’s 566 votes.

A total of 1,286 delegates were registered for the election, which was conducted peacefully.

New Constituency Executives Elected

Vincent K. Amoabeng won the First Vice Chairman position with 867 votes, defeating Michael K. Antwi, who polled 268 votes.

Frank Caleb Boateng was elected Second Vice Chairman after obtaining 794 votes, while Kwame Adu secured 339 votes.

Kwadwo Adu won the Deputy Secretary position with 688 votes against Samuel Osei’s 450 votes.

Vivian Arthur was elected Treasurer with 738 votes, defeating Rachel Ingrid, who polled 397 votes.

In the Organiser contest, Eric Mensah secured 644 votes, while George Acheampong obtained 16 votes.

Nana Kwabena Boakye Danquah Shadoff won the Youth Organiser position with 840 votes against Solomon Kwame Agyapong’s 298 votes.

For Communication Officer, Addai Kingsford secured 695 votes, while Emmanuel Nsafoah and Kennedy K. Oduro Boadi obtained 213 and 227 votes respectively.

Josephine Ama Pomaa won the Women Organiser position with 572 votes, narrowly defeating Salomey Addae, who polled 563 votes.

The results were certified by the Presiding Officer, Stella Sarpong, who declared that the figures represented a true and accurate account of the ballots cast.

Kingsley Atta Calls for Unity

Speaking after his election, Kingsley Atta thanked God and the delegates for the confidence they had placed in him.

He identified unity as his immediate priority and said bringing members together would be critical to strengthening the party’s grassroots structures and preparing the NPP for the 2028 general election.

Mr Atta also commended the outgoing chairman, Fiifi Mensah, for accepting the election outcome and urged defeated candidates to remain actively involved in the party.

“Though you have lost the election, do not go and sit down. Let us all come together to work for the party,” he urged.

He said the internal contest was over and that the focus should now shift towards strengthening the constituency and working towards an NPP victory in 2028.

Fiifi Mensah Congratulates New Executives

The outgoing Chairman, Fiifi Mensah, thanked delegates for their support during his tenure and congratulated the newly elected executives.

He called on both successful and unsuccessful candidates to put the contest behind them and work together to promote unity and the progress of the party.

Mr Mensah also urged party members to remain united and work towards securing victory for the NPP in the 2028 general election.

The Member of Parliament for Bantama, Francis Asenso-Boakye, described the election as a demonstration of democracy and the NPP’s commitment to internal democratic processes.

He congratulated the new executives and expressed his readiness to work with them to advance the interests of the Bantama Constituency and the party.

Mr Asenso-Boakye said he was confident that the new executives could build on the work of the previous administration and continue its efforts in the constituency.
