Ghana Names Squad for 2026 Amputee Football World Cup
The Ghana Paralympic Committee has named a 20-player provisional squad ahead of the 2026 Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico.
The tournament runs from November 13 to 22 in San Juan de los Lagos, giving Ghana another opportunity to represent the country on the world stage in amputee football.
The provisional squad brings together three goalkeepers and 17 outfield players, pulled from clubs and programmes in both Ghana and Türkiye. Head coach Richard Stephen Obeng will lead the team’s preparations, though this list isn’t final just yet the tournament squad will be confirmed later.
In goal, Ghana has named Razak Seidu of Asanteman AFC, Atsu Abor of Global AFC, and Richmond Fosu of Talent Hour Discovery.
Among the outfield players, a notable contingent is based in Türkiye Yussif Yahaya, Richard Arthur Opentil, Richard Ekwam, Samson Larbi Sarfo, Fuseini Iddi, Emmanuel Allotey, Mohammed Mubarik, and Hamza Mohammed all currently play for Turkish clubs.
On the local front, players like Isaac Kwabena Eshun, Timothy Hayford, Prince Nyarko, Emmanuel Osei Kwadwo, Issah Jabel, Amidu Rafiu, and Joseph Baidoo represent Ghana-based clubs. Two players, Joseph Amoh and Collins Gyamfi, have their club affiliations still pending confirmation.
Ghana heads into this World Cup with real momentum behind them. The Black Challenge claimed the African amputee football title in Tanzania back in 2021, edging out Liberia 3-2 in the final.
They followed that up with gold at the inaugural African Para Games in Accra in 2023, beating Morocco 2-1. Then in 2024, they successfully defended their continental crown in Cairo, once again getting the better of Morocco with the same 2-1 scoreline a result that secured their place at the 2026 World Cup.
With preparations for Mexico now ramping up, the Ghana Paralympic Committee is calling on Ghanaians, corporate organisations, and the wider sporting community to rally behind the team as they push toward the tournament.

The Committee has been clear that this list reflects the squad heading into camping preparations, with the final World Cup roster still to be announced.
