Mahama Govt Created More Unemployment — Miracles Aboagye

Mahama Govt Has Created More Unemployment in 20 Months Than Any Govt Did in 4 Years — Miracles
NPP Director of Communications Dennis Miracles Aboagye has launched a sharp attack on government over the recent demolition of La Beach, framing it as yet another example of what he sees as the administration’s indifference to job losses.
Aboagye’s comments come in response to the removal of unauthorised occupants from the beachfront adjoining the Labadi Beach Hotel and La Palm Royal Beach Hotel an action SSNIT says was necessary to protect its investment interests.
In a media release dated October 2, 2026, SSNIT explained its reasoning for the demolition, revealing that it had sought urgent intervention from the National Security Council Secretariat to address what it described as persistent unlawful occupation and unauthorised activity along the beachfront directly in front of the two hotels.
According to SSNIT, both hotels form part of its broader investment portfolio and are classified as significant national hospitality and tourism assets. The Trust was firm about its responsibility here. SSNIT therefore has a fiduciary responsibility to safeguard these investments, preserve their value and ensure that they continue to generate sustainable returns for the benefit of contributors and pensioners under the Basic National Social Security Scheme, the statement said, adding pointedly: These assets belong to the workers and pensioners of Ghana.
SSNIT didn’t just make a general appeal it listed eight specific risks tied to the encroachment, including threats to guest and staff safety, unauthorised access to sensitive operational areas, fire and public-health hazards, declining beachfront privacy and service standards, damage to the coastal ecosystem, reputational harm to Ghana’s tourism sector, disrupted hotel operations affecting revenue, and the growing difficulty of reversing the problem the longer it continued unaddressed.
Based on these concerns, SSNIT said it requested support from National Security specifically to protect assets it considers to belong to Ghanaian workers. The Trust also gave assurances about what comes next, stating that the beaches will be cleaned and restored to a safe, desirable condition, and will remain open to the public once that work is complete.
Despite SSNIT’s justification, Aboagye wasn’t convinced the demolition was the right move, and used it as a springboard to criticise the broader employment situation under the current administration.

In a Facebook post, he wrote: A government that won an election on the back of a 3-shift job system has created more unemployment in 20months than anyone did in 4 years. And they remain absolutely nonchalant about it.
