Man City Close in on €40m Deal for Palmeiras Winger Allan
Manchester City are on the verge of landing another winger. Reports suggest the club has reached an agreement with Palmeiras for the signing of 22-year-old Allan, in a deal worth up to €40m.
The breakdown reportedly puts €37.5m as guaranteed money, with a further €2.5m available through add-ons.
Allan came through Palmeiras’ own academy and has since grown into a regular first-team player. Despite still being just 22, he already has 96 senior appearances under his belt, with nine goals and 12 assists to show for it.
Getting the deal over the line wasn’t straightforward. Palmeiras had initially resisted letting him go during this transfer window. But talks have since progressed, and an agreement is now in place. Allan is expected to travel to England soon to wrap up the final stages of the move.
The timing lines up with a shake-up on City’s wings. Savinho has departed for Tottenham, with the London club reportedly ready to pay a hefty fee to bring the Brazilian in.
Allan looks set to be his replacement one Brazilian winger swapped for another, in a sense.
The numbers on both deals tell an interesting story. Savinho is said to be leaving for €87.5m, with a possible €11.7m more in add-ons. Allan, by comparison, is arriving for €37.5m plus €2.5m in add-ons.
Do the maths and City stand to pocket a guaranteed €50m difference between the two deals, assuming the reported terms hold. Add-ons on either side could shift that figure slightly, but the gap remains substantial either way.
If it goes through, Allan’s arrival would mark City’s sixth signing of the summer.
