MTN Business Highlights Ambition 2030 Vision, Expands Digital Services Beyond Connectivity

MTN Business has outlined its Ambition 2030 direction, positioning digital infrastructure, fintech and enterprise services as key pillars of its strategy to create new opportunities beyond traditional telecommunications.

Speaking during the National ICT Week 2026, an MTN Business representative explained how the company is evolving from a traditional connectivity provider into a broader digital services partner for businesses and individuals.

The presentation focused on MTN’s framework of “Three Platforms, One MTN”, built around digital infrastructure, fintech and advanced services, with customer experience and shared value at the centre.

Three platforms driving MTN’s future

According to the presentation, MTN’s digital infrastructure remains the foundation of its operations.

This includes its fibre networks, towers and data centres, which support connectivity for individuals and businesses and enable MTN’s wider digital ecosystem.

The second pillar is fintech, particularly mobile money. The company said the development of digital wallets and payment platforms has created an environment where businesses and innovators can build additional services on top of digital financial infrastructure.

The third area focuses on advanced services, with MTN increasingly looking beyond traditional mobile connectivity.

The company said its long-term thinking is centred on the question of what MTN can offer customers in a future where connectivity could become increasingly inexpensive or even effectively free.

“What if connectivity is zero? Nobody wants to pay for data, and data is free for the entire world. What else can MTN do into the very far future?”

That thinking, the presentation explained, is driving investment in services that provide value beyond simply connecting customers to the internet.

MTN Business targets enterprises

The presentation also highlighted the role of MTN Business in supporting enterprises with connectivity, cloud services, IoT, digital solutions and business communication tools.

Among the services highlighted were dedicated internet, cloud and IoT solutions, vehicle tracking, smart cameras, corporate APNs, bulk messaging and website services.

The company also highlighted solutions designed specifically for businesses, including SME packages, business prepaid and postpaid services and association bundles.

Dedicated internet for businesses

MTN Business explained that dedicated internet provides businesses with an allocated bandwidth rather than having their connection compete with other users on a shared mobile network.

This is particularly important for organisations that require consistent network performance for their operations.

The company also pointed to fibre broadband and unlimited packages as alternatives for customers who rely heavily on internet connectivity for activities such as business operations, gaming and streaming.

Moving beyond connectivity

One of the major themes of the presentation was MTN’s effort to build services on top of its connectivity infrastructure.

The company highlighted Microsoft 365, professional digital services and cloud-based communication tools as examples.

One product discussed was Yellow Biz, which combines a router with a Microsoft 365 subscription to give businesses connectivity alongside productivity tools.

MTN Business also highlighted workplace services and Unicom, which allows a number associated with a router to function as a virtual phone through a cloud-phone application.

The strategy, according to the presentation, is to ensure that MTN can continue providing valuable services even as connectivity itself becomes less differentiated.

Expanding into IoT and smart solutions

MTN Business is also using its network infrastructure to support Internet of Things applications.

The presentation highlighted SIM-enabled smart cameras, IoT bundles and vehicle tracking solutions.

The company explained that its smart-camera offering can provide connectivity in locations where traditional Wi-Fi may not be available.

It also highlighted corporate APNs, which can be used for devices such as point-of-sale terminals and ATMs that transmit relatively small amounts of data.

MTN explores mobile identity services

Another area highlighted during the presentation was mobile identity and API services.

With MTN having hundreds of millions of subscribers across Africa, the company said it is exploring ways to allow other industries to build services around its mobile identity capabilities.

Examples mentioned included SIM-swap detection, identity verification and silent mobile-number verification.

These services could allow businesses such as financial institutions and digital platforms to use information associated with a customer’s mobile number as part of their verification processes.

MTN’s broader Ambition 2030 direction

The presentation at National ICT Week 2026 offered a glimpse into how MTN Business is approaching its longer-term strategy.

Rather than relying solely on traditional voice and data services, MTN is building around digital infrastructure and adding fintech, cloud, IoT, enterprise software, identity and other digital services.

The underlying ambition is to create an ecosystem where connectivity becomes the foundation for a much wider range of digital products and services.

For Ghanaian businesses, this could mean access to more integrated tools for connectivity, productivity, payments, security, communication and digital operations through a single telecommunications ecosystem.

As MTN continues pursuing its Ambition 2030 direction, its challenge will be to turn this broad digital strategy into services that deliver measurable value for businesses, entrepreneurs and consumers across Ghana and the wider African market.
