EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey – France national football team booked their place in the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with an impressive 3-0 victory over Sweden national football team in their Round of 32 clash.
France produced a commanding display from start to finish, controlling possession and creating the better scoring opportunities as they comfortably overcame Sweden at New York New Jersey Stadium.
The victory underlined France’s credentials as one of the favourites to win the tournament, with the former world champions combining defensive discipline with clinical finishing.
France took control of the contest early, moving the ball confidently through midfield and stretching Sweden’s defence with quick passing and attacking movement. Their pressure eventually paid off, allowing them to establish a lead before adding further goals to put the outcome beyond doubt.
