Vetting of Ministerial Nominees Ayariga and Agyeman-Rawlings Pushed to August 27
The vetting of two ministerial nominees has been rescheduled. Mahama Ayariga and Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings will now appear before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
TV3’s Parliamentary Correspondent, Christian Yalley, broke the news. He said the vetting was originally set for today, Tuesday, August 25, but has now been pushed back.
He added that the vetting of the Supreme Court Justice nominees could still go ahead tomorrow, Wednesday, August 26.
On Monday, August 24, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, referred the two nominations to the Appointments Committee for vetting.
Ayariga and Agyeman-Rawlings were originally scheduled to face the Committee today, alongside two Supreme Court nominees.
Ayariga has been nominated for Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs. Agyeman-Rawlings is headed for the Ministry of Environment, Science, and Technology.
Both nominations trace back to a reshuffle President John Dramani Mahama carried out on August 7, 2026.
As part of that reshuffle, substantive Local Government Minister Ahmed Ibrahim moved to the Ministry of Works, Housing, and Water Resources. Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga stepped in to take his place at Local Government.
Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings was named Minister-designate for Environment, Science, and Technology.
The changes were announced in a press release from the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on August 7.
Elsewhere in the reshuffle, Works and Housing Minister Kenneth Gilbert Adjei was reassigned to the Ministry of Defence.
