Ghana and India Poised to Advance Relations in Pharmaceutical Development – Ablakwa
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced that India’s Minister of External Affairs, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, will make a historic visit to Ghana, with pharmaceutical development and agricultural cooperation high on the agenda.
According to Ablakwa, the visit is expected to push forward cooperation between the two countries in pharmaceutical development, situated within the framework of President Mahama’s Accra Reset philosophy. Agriculture is also on the table, with plans to deepen collaboration around mechanisation and value addition.
Ablakwa shared the news on his X page, reflecting fondly on a bilateral meeting and panel discussions he’d already held with Jaishankar on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly (UNGA). He framed the relationship between the two nations in warm terms, describing a bond rooted in solidarity and shared values.
Ghana and India value our inseparable bond of solidarity and shared values, he wrote, adding that he’s looking forward to formally hosting Jaishankar in Ghana later this week, on a visit extended at his own invitation.
Ablakwa laid out a fairly wide-ranging set of priorities for the visit. Beyond pharmaceutical development and agricultural cooperation, he pointed to support for President Mahama’s industrialisation and job creation agenda, along with plans to expand scholarship opportunities and IT partnerships between the two countries.
