18 Years On, Juaboso DCE Appeals for Funds to Complete Assembly Complex

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Juaboso, Alexander Adu Quist, has appealed to the District Assemblies Common Fund Office to provide financial support for the completion of an Assembly office complex that has remained unfinished for 18 years.

The project, which was initiated during the administration of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, was intended to provide adequate office space and improve the working environment of the Juaboso District Assembly. However, the facility remains incomplete, leaving the Assembly to operate under persistent accommodation constraints.

Mr Adu Quist said the Assembly does not have the financial capacity to complete the project using its current allocations and has therefore appealed for additional central government support.

Juaboso Assembly seeks Common Fund support

According to the DCE, the funds available to the Assembly under the current guidelines are insufficient to make significant progress on the abandoned project.

Looking at the guidelines, the legacy fund that is being given to us, we cannot even do 20% of it, he said.

He disclosed that the Assembly has written to the Common Fund Office to consider the project as one of the special projects that require additional government funding.

We were requesting that they should come to our aid, so that we can get some central government inflows to be able to complete it, Mr Adu Quist explained.

He added that a team from the Common Fund has already visited the facility to assess its condition and understand the Assembly’s concerns.

Common Fund team also came, we took them there and showed them that this is beyond us, and we need additional assistance from them, he said.

Assembly faces office space shortage

Mr Adu Quist said the need to complete the facility has become more urgent as new offices and personnel are added to the Assembly.

He explained that some staff are currently operating from spaces that were not originally designed to serve as offices, creating challenges for the effective administration of the district.

We need more space, because more offices are coming on board. And now where we house them, some of them are not purposely for office accommodation, he stated.

The DCE believes completing the complex would provide the necessary space for staff and improve the efficiency of the Assembly’s daily operations.

Once we get a new facility which will have more space, it will be better for the efficient running of the day-to-day administration of the Assembly, he said.

DCE says Assembly cannot complete project alone

Mr Adu Quist stressed that the Assembly has already invested substantial resources in the project over the years, making additional government support necessary to prevent the facility from remaining incomplete indefinitely.

We have already invested money in the project for many years. By looking at the strength of the Assembly, it will be very difficult to complete the said project alone, he stated.

He therefore appealed to the Common Fund Office to provide the additional funding required to complete the project and make the facility available for use.

We are pleading that they should come to our aid so that we will be able to complete the project for it to be more beneficial to the district, since we have office space difficulty, he said.

For the Juaboso District Assembly, completing the long-delayed project would not only bring an 18-year-old construction effort to an end but also address the Assembly’s growing need for suitable office accommodation and improve the efficiency of its administrative operations.
