NPA Mourns Deputy CEO Dramani Bukari, Describes Him as a Gem
The Board and Management of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) have announced the death of its Deputy Chief Executive, Dr Dramani Bukari.
The NPA said his death is a major loss to the Authority, Ghana’s downstream petroleum industry and the many people who worked with him throughout his career.
The announcement came on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, after reports emerged that Dr Bukari had passed away in London following a short illness.
NPA Pays Tribute to Dr Bukari
In a statement, the NPA expressed sadness over the death of the Deputy Chief Executive and extended condolences to his family, loved ones, colleagues and others mourning his passing.
The Authority said it was deeply saddened by his departure but drew comfort from the belief that he had returned to his Maker.
The NPA prayed for strength, comfort and peace for the bereaved family and all those affected by his death.
It also prayed for eternal rest for Dr Bukari.
Dr Bukari’s Energy Sector Experience
Dr Dramani Bukari had extensive experience in the energy sector, with expertise spanning energy systems, petroleum pricing and petroleum taxation.
He held a Master of Science degree in Energy Economics with distinction and a PhD in Sustainable Energy Technologies.
Before joining the NPA, Dr Bukari served as Director of Entrepreneurship, Partnerships and Investments at the Ghana Climate Innovation Centre (GCIC).
He also served as a member of the Governing Board of the Ghana Standards Authority.
His experience in energy and petroleum-related matters contributed to his work within Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.
The NPA described his passing as a significant loss to the Authority and the wider petroleum industry.
