New national dialogue planned for October

A new national dialogue focused on Ghana’s diaspora and repatriation is scheduled to take place in Accra on October 30, bringing together diaspora communities, investors, entrepreneurs, students and other stakeholders.

The inaugural Open D.O.O.R. Dialogue is being organised as part of the Decade of Our Repatriation initiative and is designed to create discussions around repatriation, enterprise, investment and national transformation.

The event is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 30, 2026.

Diaspora participation at the centre

Organisers describe the programme as a national platform intended to connect leaders, change-makers, students, repatriates, investors and media organisations.

The event will include keynote addresses, diaspora repatriate perspectives, a student recruitment fair, an entrepreneurship and innovation fair, exhibitions, networking and media engagement.

The University of Ghana’s College of Humanities is listed as a partner.

From repatriation to investment

The event is designed to go beyond conversations about returning to Ghana.

Organisers say the dialogue will focus on practical opportunities involving investment, entrepreneurship, education and institutional partnerships.

For members of the Ghanaian diaspora considering a return to the country, these areas can be important when assessing employment, business, education and investment opportunities.

The programme also provides space for businesses and community initiatives to showcase their work.

Businesses invited to participate

The organisers have created several exhibitor options for businesses, institutions and community organisations.

These include community vendor tables, standard booths, enterprise booths, featured activations and institutional pavilions.

The packages are intended to give businesses and organisations an opportunity to present their products, services and initiatives to participants at the October 30 event.

Repatriation gains wider attention

The event forms part of a broader effort to encourage structured conversations about the relationship between Ghana and its global diaspora.

For some members of the diaspora, returning to Ghana involves more than visiting family. It can involve establishing businesses, buying property, pursuing education, investing in local communities or moving back permanently.

Creating platforms where prospective returnees can meet institutions, businesses and other members of the diaspora can therefore help address practical questions around reintegration.

A growing diaspora ecosystem

The Open D.O.O.R. Dialogue comes alongside a number of other diaspora-focused initiatives and conferences taking place in Ghana during 2026.

Together, these programmes reflect growing interest in connecting Ghana’s global communities with investment, entrepreneurship, education and national development.

With the inaugural Open D.O.O.R. Dialogue scheduled for October 30, organisers are positioning the event as a platform where discussions about repatriation can be linked to practical opportunities in Ghana.
